Adolfo García-Sastre of EMI elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS)

Dr. Adolfo García-Sastre, PhD, serving as the associate editor of Emerging Microbes & Infections (EMI), has been elected to the National Academy of Sciences (NAS), an honor signifying that a researcher has made outstanding contributions to the field.


Adolfo García-Sastre, Ph.D., is a Professor of Medicine and Microbiology and co-director of the Global Health & Emerging Pathogens Institute at The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Dr. Garcia-Sastre is a co-founder of Vivaldi Biosciences, Inc. in 2006 and serves as its Member of Scientific Advisory Board. He is a co-leader of the basic research component on Viral Therapeutics and Pathogenesis of the NIAID-funded North East Biodefense Center, involving the collaboration of more than 20 US academic institutions. His research into the biology of influenza viruses has been at the forefront of medical advances in epidemiology. He is the author of more than 200 publications.

EMI is very honoured to have Dr. Adolfo García-Sastre as the associate editor since 2015, who has made major contribution to the development of journal.
