EMI 2025 Metrics

In 2025, EMI received 2103 new paper submissions which is the highest ever in EMI history, even higher than the peak time during the first year of COVID (Year 2020, 1826 new submissions).

In the prior year (2024), EMI published 290 papers, almost at the same level as in COVID peak time (Year 2020, 299 publications).

In 2025, EMI published 253 papers, less than 2024 despite more new submissions, leading to the rate of acceptance at 12%, the lowest ever in EMI history.

In 2025, we saw 26% increase in the article downloads comparing to last year, from 1.47 million downloads to 1.85 million downloads, setting a new annual record.

The above numbers underscore the growth of EMI and its expanding readership. We are happy to see the growing influence of EMI among the global research community of emerging infections.

At the same time, we will further enhance our outreach. EMI launched its official X account (@JournalEMI) in May 2025. This platform allows us to share key articles, research updates, and expert insights on emerging infections, fostering closer connections with researchers and readers worldwide.
